Hong Kong at Midnight - Indulge in a World of Avengers!
SPOILERS ALERT! (Okay, just a little bit)
Last night, I became one of the many people who have already seen the new Avengers movie 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'. I don't know about your country, but in Hong Kong, we have the privilege of having the movie released here first (XD), earlier than the US. Anyway, last night my family and I went to the cinemas after our long day of work, to see this movie that we were all just dying to watch.
I LOVE THE AVENGERS!
Before we saw this movie, everywhere in Hong Kong were just full of Avengers-related things. Like, everywhere. Avengers models in shopping malls. Avengers models in Seven Eleven. Avengers posters in MTR. Trailers being played on big screens. Colleagues constantly talked about how they have already seen the movie (quick!) while trying not to spoil it. We have this massive poster in our home. We have collected two Avengers models. We just love it. My whole family. Actually, anything MARVEL my siblings and I would jump to it. We just love those things. Ha, we're such nerds.
So we watched it last night, and I have to say, the first movie is better. LOL. I liked this one, but it was a bit... "meh". It was enjoyable. God, it was definitely entertaining to watch, and we all feel satisfied that we finally watched it. But some bits were just disappointing. I'm not gonna spill that much, and it's obviously my opinion. But we were so looking forward to see why Captain America's invincible shield got ripped in half, but that turned out to be a disappointment. Also I grossed out at Black Widow and the Hulk together. Like together together. Ew, no. I mean, seriously? Also, I know the Avengers' main character is Tony Stark and his Iron Man, but it feels like the movie focuses too much on him. I mean, isn't it supposed to be an all-star show? Like, where was Nick Fury, damn it? Where was War Machine?? They hardly made an appearance. And Captain America and Thor seemed to have been pushed to the back. And the hulky Iron Man came out just to fight the Hulk? Really? Also, when Vision came out, he looked like Superman! That was just weird. And don't you think it's a little awkward how Thor's a God and the others are not? Like he is not human, and he has superpowers. I'm telling you, if the Avengers go full force with their ability, ain't no body care if there's a purple man in the next sequel!! (I am not joking on that, there will be a purple man in the next sequel.)
The movie also has these little unnecessary bits of humour that sometimes wasn't even that funny. Well, it does have funny moments in the movie. My favourite scene has to be the scene where the Avengers were trying to lift Thor's hammer. Now that scene was funny. And Thor saying they are not worthy (LOL) but Vision ends up being the one who can lift it (even more LOLs). But the whole movie is basically about the Avengers fighting this machine that Tony Stark built. And nothing else. And was Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch even necessary? Geesh. So many shit points.
But in the end, it is an action-packed entertaining movie that is a definite must-watch. Which ever country you live in, just watch it, okay? You must have seen the first one too. If not, what were you doing all this time??
Conclusion: 6/10 stars. Entertaining movie but... all of the above. Sigh.

I also want to say that it's very rare for my family and I to be walking the streets of Hong Kong (okay, the streets near our place) at midnight. After the movie, it was like 12:30am, so no public transport whatsoever. We had to walk back home. And it was quite a long walk. (But it was good exercise and it was free, so double win!) And during that time, I realised how quiet and peaceful the streets were, and it was rare for me to experience that feeling here, that for once the streets were not crowded. And it was relaxing because it was dark, with just the street lights. I just want to mention it. Nothing special.
