Drama Thoughts: Ouroboros
Title:「ウロボロス〜この愛こそ、正義。」
Run time: 2015.01.16 - 03.20, Friday 10pm
I just finished this drama and I find it worth mentioning. I won't say this is a review, it's just my thoughts and opinions.
I already said that I'm a slack so I can't be bothered to go on a long detailed description on what the drama is about. But basically, it's about these two boys, Ikuo Ryuusaki and Danno Tatsuya, who saw their teacher from their orphanage, Yuiko-sensei, murdered by some powerful unknown, and spends 20 years to rise their own ranks in society in order to track down whoever killed their beloved teacher and bring justice to her. But while secrets begins to unfold, well, tragedies strikes.
It stars Ikuta Toma as Ryusaaki and Oguri Shun as Tatsuya. (Yep, my boys) And in a story with two male leads, of course, there will be a female lead. But she don't interest me so I'm not even gonna.
Anyway, I found the cast, the acting performances, the script, the directing, the soundtrack and all of that, were really good and I must say, it totally deserved much higher ratings. But I guess ratings doesn't really matter since these days it's not actually about the ratings, it's about whether the drama is actually good. And I say this drama is near perfection.
First, I love big casts in dramas, okay. They are what makes dramas, well, good. We don't want to be forever watching the main characters cause that gets boring after a while, so big casts is good. Big casts means more characters. Then the acting was good, no leaks, that's good. I don't want awkward situations where I'm watching the drama, and then suddenly ruined by horrid acting. No. Just. No. I especially have to praise Toma. He's improved so much, oh my god. I remember watching Maou, and that awkward situation I just mentioned happened with him most of the time. Like, really? Actually the whole cast of Maou was terrible. Except Ohno. LOL. Just watch Maou and you will know what I mean. Anyway, in here, Ouroboros, Toma impressed me. I'm proud.
The story is so intense and I like the whole feeling and setting of the drama. I like how it doesn't really involve romance. Good. It would've ruined the drama anyway. But if you have seen Ryusei no Kizuna and Maou, you have to agree with me that Ouroboros is very similar to both of them, like rip off or something and made it into something else. You know what else these kind of drama will have? Sad endings.
Okay, I won't say sad, but the type of finale where you bulk your eyes out with all the waterworks, and then ends with some kind of mysteriousness to suit the drama. Which makes you somehow feel satisfied in the end. Darn it!
Last thing to say, is the soundtrack. I know, I know. They play those soundtrack in every single scene. And then there will be that one track where they play the most. And then it will somehow become the drama's signature song. And then...
Wait.
What happened with Sakura?
It was supposed to be the theme song.
Sigh.
Conclusion: 8 / 10 stars. Because of what I said at the end. Seriously, was it even necessary to provide a theme song?
