GUTS!... and why it is such a special song to me
Title:「GUTS!」
Artist: 嵐 (ARASHI)
Release date: 2014.04.30
Last year, Arashi released their single, GUTS!, and the song became quite popular in Japan. It was used as the theme song for Nino's drama,「弱くても勝てます」. It was also the first single they released after I became a fan. You know how ayumi hamasaki doesn't really release singles anymore? And I got very bored, so having an artist I newly liked release a single was like new stuff to me. At the time I was still in England, and they don't sell Asian stuff in music stores there and I also don't shop online, so I got depressed I couldn't buy the single. Well, before I was already depressed all the time because I couldn't buy ayu's releases. LOL.
Anyway, I really like GUTS!. You get to see Arashi looking like teachers and being all positive and happy and encouraging. I really like the choreography to it as well. Every time I listen to this song I just can't help but dance to it. It is a fun song. It also has great intro music, so I currently use GUTS! as my alarm song. The first second it plays, it just makes you jump, so it's great to use it to wake me up.
So, anyway, I was back in Hong Kong, and walked into this random CD store, and they were selling GUTS! so my heart skipped a beat and I was like, "I'm getting this! Now!", so I bought it, it was the LE edition, and it officially became the very first CD/DVD I bought. And starting from GUTS! I began my CD/DVD collection. I basically buy anything I see Arashi related. Besides CD/DVDs, which includes singles, albums and concert DVDs, I also have Nino's movies' DVDs, Arashi magazines and Arashi books. Basically turned me into a die hard fan. Well, not that hardcore since I'm not even a member of their fanclub and I never been to their concerts live, so technically I'm not that die hard. But I think I actually am, since if there's anything Arashi related, my heart skips and I'll be like "Yes. Yes!". In Hong Kong, they sometimes air past Japanese dramas on television. Recently there was Kagi no Kakatta Heya and Shitsuren Chocolatier in Cantonese dubbed! Then there are VS Arashi. Oh, the weirdness caused by the dubbing!
Back to the topic. I also feel like GUTS! is special because it was released in 2014. And that was the year of their 15th anniversary. Thank god I became a fan just in time for their 15th anniversary. It's funny, because the year before that, 2013, was ayu's 15th anniversary, so I'm like celebrating two 15th anniversaries in two consecutive years. They also monopolized the whole of Tokyo Dome just for this one song and all the other music artists were probably like "WHAAAAAT??". They also performed this song on NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen 2014, and it was a very special moment as they were the last artist to perform for the White team, and the whole of Japan and all the artists from Kouhaku came out to watch them.
So here's a performance of GUTS! in Arashi's recent BLAST in Hawaii, and thank you, GUTS!, for starting so many things for me! Viva seishun!!
