Endless Rambling on AKB48 - 2nd Anniversary SP
In my blog post here, which I posted 2 years ago, I was just becoming a fan of this giant pop army of pretty bitches known as AKB48. I've known of them beforehand, of course. Why wouldn't have I? But not that I knew of any of the members. But if you like a group, it always start with that one member, or a particular song the group sang. In this case, it started with their song Bokutachi wa tatakawanai, which, I must say, is amazing. Don't know why, lol.
Then I came across with their 2014 General Election, in which Watanabe Mayu was crowned first place. I actually find this general ranking thing very interesting. I especially find it fascinating how prestigious the ranking is. It determines how high a member's popularity can get. Not that they will get any popular even when they are ranked higher, lol, but I guess that's how it works. The whole point of it, I think, is to determine who's the centre for their upcoming single. So basically, Mayu won first place in 2014, so she was centre for their single, Kokoro no Placard, which became the second AKB song I liked. And then it just went from there I started liking them and their music.
In the two years that I have been a fan of AKB48, I have already dug up their past and recognise some of the members, mostly the top ones, lol. Although I liked Sashihara Rino at one point, and Watanabe Mayu remained the most prominent, well, I moved on. I mean, watching Mayu's starring drama, Crow's Blood, helped me a little bit in recognising some of the members. I recognises Miyawaki Sakura. Well, she still creeps me out. I thought she looked familiar, though. She was the centre for AKB's 10th Anniversary single, Kimi wa Melody, with past top members such as Maeda Atsuko, Oshima Yuko, Shinoda Mariko and Itano Tomomi. I've knew of Itano Tomomi in Kamen Rider Double, lol, back then I seriously had no idea she was in AKB. And Atsuko and Yuko made guest appearance in the 2015 Kouhaku Uta Gassen. It was the first time I saw them, and when I found out they used to be the top queens of AKB48, I was impressed, lol. They are so pretty! Their auras are amazing! When I first saw them I was like, Who are they?!
Now, AKB48 are the only group I'm interested in out of all the other associated acts such as SKE48, HKT48, NMB48, and such, just like Arashi are the only group I'm interested in out of all Johnny's. Okay, I used to like Hey! Say! JUMP and Kanjani8, but they annoy me now. I'm actually quite into Kis-My-Ft2 lately, but I'm not sure that would last long, lol. Anyway, back to AKB. So then I heard their song, Tsubasa wa Iranai, and watched the PV, and fell in love with the centre member of the single, Mukaichi Mion. Which is quite awkward if you think about it. I mean, she's a girl. And she's younger than me. But she is really cute and pretty and I just love her.
I watched AKB's recent drama, Tofu Pro Wrestling, which is the most pointless drama I've ever seen. It stars Miyawaki Sakura as lead role, and Mion is in it too as part of the main cast. But I really want to ask why AKB always does dramas that involves gruesome and violent scenes?! The Majisuka Gakuen series were very enjoyable, though. Others, not so much. Tofu Pro Westling is just a junky drama about these two friends (Sakura and Mion) wanting to join this Idol Wrestling thing and gathered a few other girls to make a team so that they could compete with the best and stuff. And then near the end Mion betrays Sakura and joins the opposite team but then Mion loses. At first I thought it must be for some touching reasons like because she thought Sakura's team was losing so she had no other choice but to pretend to be on the other team so she could lose for them so Sakura's team could win, something like that, BUT NO. I mean, WTF?! That's why the whole god damn thing is so meaningless. And their terrible acting didn't help either. I haven't been catching up with the drama ever since because I just couldn't stand it anymore, lol.
So anyway, Mukaichi Mion is my current fave member. And I know Maeda Atsuko is a past member. But I love her. I totally understand why she was the top and so many fans liked her. Her aura in AKB48 was amazing! And she had so much charisma, I get why she stood out so easily. I follow her now and her activities. Like, I've seen some of her drama and movies, and I listen to her music, and such. I follow her on Twitter and Instagram too, lol. Although I know many fans got annoyed of her. Well, it's AKB48. Who ever actually likes them for them anyways?
I think AKB48 members are perfect examples of what Japanese idols are supposed to be. They are pretty. Heck, some of them are just pure beauty (i.e. Mion!). They act cute and clueless. Though some of them are pretty rebellish in that sense (e.g. Sashihara Rino.
Well, who am I to judge. I'm the most tone deaf person to ever exist, so I guess I have no rights to say what I said. But, they are terrible at singing.
Speaking of singing, since I find some of their songs pretty amazing, I will have to scrap what I said about their singing, since if I can bear listening to their songs it means I can bear listening to their voices. But, let's get real. Even if they can sing, they have no vocal skills whatsoever. Like, if they each sing solo, people would run away. And I'm not kidding about that. I've heard some of them sing on their own, and they sounded so flat.
Okay, I'll stop being a bitch and I want to write about how much I like some of their songs. Like the Maeda Atsuko-centred songs are amazing! Like Flying Get and RIVER are great songs. I think her graduation are the saddest thing in AKB48 history. Just watch her announcing her graduation, you will know what I mean. Everyone was bawling in disbelief! The other top members began leaving one after another since then. And now Mayu is the only one left. Oh wells. I'm actually hoping Mukaichi Mion to be ruling AKB48 in the future, lol. Her centred song, Tsubasa wa Iranai, is another one of my favourites. I love how touching the tune is. I also really like the music video. Mion looked so pure.
Speaking of music videos, AKB48's music videos are probably the best thing about them. They put a lot of effort into their music videos and they has to have one for every tracks of every single. That's very impressive. And their music videos are all very extraordinary to me. All very satisfying. I have to commend on that. For example, that song from their single, LOVE TRIP, with Rino as centre, Shiawase o Wakenasai, in which the music video was of Rino and Yoshimura Takashi marrying. I saw the longer version of it, which was like, 30 minutes long, and the whole thing just looked so real I thought they were actually getting married. But then reality hit me and I realised it was all just for the music video which led me to wonder why they even made such a video, lol! But this is evidence of how far they could go for a music video, which is why I'm so impressed.
So, I guess they are fine. Just so long they continue to give me these satisfying songs of theirs.
But seriously, their song Koisuru Fortune Cookie is hands down the best song of AKB48. I've lost count of how many times I looped this song, lol. They have other amazing songs too, especially their recent ones. Like their most recent single, Shoot Sign, is another song I'm obsessed with. This single I've wanted since they announced it. Lol, what I've become.
Anyway, I'm going to end this with a photo of these two, my fave AKB girls!
Mayu and Mion!
